Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov paid a visit to Warsaw on 2 September 2010. Russia’s Foreign Minister took part in the annual Council of Polish Ambassadors in Warsaw. The Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg paid a visit to Poland on 2 August 2010. Minister Schwarzenberg met Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski for talks on a number of bilateral issues, including the prospects for further development of the Polish-Czech relations. [more]

On 26 July 2010 Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will head the Polish delegation to the Brussels sessions of the General Affairs Council and Foreign Affairs Council. The FAC session will cover the situation in the Gaza Strip, Sudan and Western Balkans as well as sanctions on Iran, the EU relations with India and Brazil and the EU-Africa summit. [more]

 On 22 of May 2010, the ceremony of the "Polish Opening" of the Visegrad House was held in Cape Town. The meeting with Polish society in Cape Town was organized specially on the occasion of the visit in South Africa of the Director General of Foreign Service Mr. Rafał Wiśniewski and Director of Africa and Middle East Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw, Mr. Jacek Chodorowicz.

Tragic airplane crash near Smolensk

The President of the Republic of Poland H.E. Mr. Lech Kaczyński, his spouse Mrs. Maria Kaczyńska and the Polish delegation including Deputy Speakers of Parliament, numerous Members of Parliament, Ministers, high level Officials, Officers, Clergy and Combatants lost their lives in a plane crash on the 10th of April 2010 on their way to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Katyń Massacre near Smoleńsk in Russia. All 96 people who were on the board of the presidential plane perished in this tragic accident.

 

A book of condolence will be opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, 14 Amos Street, Colbyn, Pretoria from Monday, 12th of April until Friday, 16th of April 2010 from 11.00 till 14.00.
